Seattle String Sessions, New Project

February 8th, 2010

Currently looking forward to a recording session for some orchestral trailer cues with X-Ray Dog.  I’ll be heading up to Seattle for the session in just a few weeks.

I’m also beginning work on a new short that should be finished by the first of March.  A lot of new writing going on, and I look forward to sharing it.

Heading into 2010

January 2nd, 2010

Finished off 2009 with some promo work for ABC and wrapped up additional music duties on “Party Down,” selected as one of AFI’s ten best shows from 2009.  Heading into 2010, so far I have a late February recording session for orchestral action adventure cues with X-Ray Dog.  More to come!

“Party Down” Named in AFI’s 10 Best of 2009

December 15th, 2009

Starz original series “Party Down,” for which I am an additional music composer, was named one of the top ten shows of 2009 in the AFI Awards.  AFI placed “Party Down” in the company of outstanding shows like “Glee,” “Mad Men,” “Big Love,” and others.  See the full list here.

Party Down

PARTY DOWN is television’s best-kept secret. Creators John Enbom, Dan Etheridge, Paul Rudd and Rob Thomas have combined their creative talents to tell a wickedly funny tale of a catering company run by a smorgasbord of LA actor wannabes. This clever conceit has the show’s devoted audience cheering for a collection of characters that flub their way through life, each depicted with real affection and an aching authenticity. PARTY DOWN knows its world and mocks it with authority, though at its significant heart, the show is a celebration of the joy and despair of aspiring to something that may never come to pass.”

“Party Down” Season Two

December 6th, 2009

I’ve started writing additional music for season two of “Party Down,” a Starz original television series produced by Paul Rudd and Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars, October Road).  Outside of that, work continues on highly cinematic orchestral action adventure cues for X-Ray Dog.

Studio News, TMZ Cues and Trailer Cues

October 30th, 2009

It’s been a long, long process, but I am finally just about finished with a tremendous upgrade to my studio involving lots of new software, new gear, and five new computers networked together to run it all.  In short, my palette has just been significantly expanded.  I will now be able to work on highly elaborate productions and, most importantly, monstrous software-based orchestral arrangements with ease.  These upgrades are ready just in time for the beginnings of my next X-Ray Dog cues; I’m very excited for these next cues and they are my most involved orchestral work to date, including a planned recording session.  More on that as it develops.

Outside of that, this week I completed and turned in cues for TMZ/Extra.  Finally, frequent collaborator Ben Crippin Taylor and I completed recording and producing a song that we cowrote for the International Songwriting Competition.

“Andheri” Wins Again, and More

September 22nd, 2009

“Andheri” won the Grand Jury Prize at the San Francisco Shorts fest a couple of weekends ago.

I started writing some cues for TMZ/Extra this week.

I had the tremendous pleasure of recording vocalist Jacob Luttrell this past weekend for a song I cowrote and will coproduce with Ben Crippin Taylor.

Fall 2009 Update

September 8th, 2009

I recently completed two suspense/action tracks for X-Ray Dog that are going into mastering this week, including “Simmer,” which is featured on my site’s web player.  Alongside my track “Last Chance,” which was released on the “Night Hounds” disc in January, and another two tracks I completed in early August, I now have a total of seven X-Ray Dog tracks available for advertising and trailer licensing.

I also finished writing the score for Harry Chaskin’s “Bygone Behemoth,” a brilliant claymation short that will be making the festival rounds in the coming months.

Finally, In the past month I have been going through a long overdue major equipment upgrade in my studio, and I’m looking forward to getting my new rig up and running for projects coming up later this fall.

Nothing to divulge about my upcoming projects just yet – stay tuned.

Music Updated

July 12th, 2009

I posted some new pieces to the player this weekend: X-Ray Dog tracks “Unforgettable” and “Simmer,” as well as excerpts from the scores to “El Pez” and “You, Me, the Sea,” two projects for which I was fortunate to collaborate with fellow composer Ben Crippin Taylor.

-Completed two tracks for an X-Ray Dog release that entered the mastering phase today, with several more in the works for releases later in the year.

-Starz original series “Party Down,” for which I wrote additional music, entered an international distribution agreement and was picked up for a second season this fall.

-Scored three short films with two more lined up for July, including “To Live and Dine in LA” starring David Hasselhoff.

-Have been engaged in a promising demo process to compose for a major, highly creative and award-winning advertising agency; more on that soon.
